Here is an oak fell dangerously over the road this weekend during the strong winds on this memorial day. I saw it fall down while I was driving on the opposite side of the road. The oak shows significant signs of rotten and decayed areas in the trunk. Trees whose trunks have large cavities with extensive decay should be considered for removal. Rot weakens the trunk and reduces a tree’s ability to withstand strong winds. Thankfully the City of Clearwater removed the hazardous limb that fell on the street. We later removed the whole tree on that same day.
